Breast Reduction and Relief

Breast Reduction Surgery

Breast reduction is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries I perform. It’s one of those procedures that can literally change a woman’s life, and one that almost always generates a post-operative “I wish I had done that years ago…” sigh of relief.

What are the benefits of a Breast Reduction?

While there are obvious cosmetic benefits to a breast reduction, one of the most pressing issues for undergoing the operation is to reduce neck and back pain. The chronic hurting is a familiar ailment for many women with large breasts due to their volume and weight. Large breasts exert a surprisingly strong force on a woman’s upper body and lower back. Over time that pressure is felt in those regions that must ultimately bear and support the weight: her neck and back.

With a breast reduction operation, I am able to change the size, shape, and weight of the breast, which leads to a marked decrease in muscles stress, posture problems, skin irritation, and the painful bra-strap indentations that result from the constant pull of heavy breasts. Many of my patients who have their breasts reduced are able to exercise again and participate in activities and sports that had become off limits because of breast size and the pain exercising would bring. Plus, they feel more self-confident when wearing swimsuits, tighter fit clothing and low cut tops, among others.
