Butt Lift FAQs

What is a Butt Lift?

A butt lift is the name of a procedure that can really be done in two ways.  The most commonly referred to technique is done in conjunction with a lower body lift. In this procedure the buttocks are physically lifted higher by making an incision on the lower back and upper aspect of the buttocks to remove excess tissue. The second technique is a fat transfer procedure.  Using your own fat from another area of the body, the buttocks can be augmented thereby creating a fuller, shapelier derriere.

What is a Lower Body Lift?

The traditional lower body lift usually involves lateral thigh lift, tummy tuck, and buttock lift.  This procedure involves making a circumferential incision at the belt line. Commonly, this procedure is done for people that have had massive weight loss through surgery or diet and exercise and have maintained their current weight for over 6 months. This type of butt lift is done in a surgery center and usually takes between 2 and 5 hours. Recovery is 3-6 weeks.

What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

A Brazilian Butt lift uses a fat transfer technique to create a fuller, more shapely derriere.  With this process, excess fat is removed from other parts of the body through a process similar to liposuction.  This fat is then transferred to the area that needs supplementation.  Commonly this is done at the higher area of the buttocks to give it a lifted appearance. This procedure is done in a surgery center and takes about two hours.  Recovery is one to two weeks for this type of butt lift.
