Deep Peels

What is a deep chemical peel?

Over time, the skin can become dry, damaged, and aged as a result of decreased cell turnover. The body becomes less efficient at restoring and replacing old cells, so chemical peel treatments can be highly effective at removing these cells and supporting the growth of new ones. Deep chemical peels reach the deepest levels of the skin and can provide long-term, life-changing results when it comes to reversing signs of aging, reducing deep pigmentation, and even treating pre-cancerous growths.

Deep chemical peel treatments

Deep chemical peels often accompany a pre-treatment system of retinoids to make the peel process easier and more effective. During a deep chemical peel, you’ll be administered a numbing agent so that you’re comfortable while we treat the skin with our preferred solution.

Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA)

This potent solution is derived from acetic acid, a component of vinegar. It can effectively exfoliate deep into the skin, reducing extensive signs of aging, greatly improving texture and tone, and treating deep hyperpigmentation and blemishes. After this treatment, most patients experience flaking for around one week and extensive redness. We recommend this treatment as a series of two peels, spaced six months apart for best results.

Recovery and results

Deep chemical peels can come with extensive downtime, depending on your skin, but some patients opt to stay home for around one week after treatment. It’s highly important that you avoid sunlight and manage any dressings administered after your treatment. You may need to use a specialized ointment to keep the skin moisturized and averse to hyperpigmentation. You’ll receive detailed instructions from our skincare experts on what to avoid during this time, and you should be sure to contact us with any questions you may have.
