What is Abdominoplasty/Tummy Tuck?
Abdominoplasty (AKA the tummy tuck) is a procedure that’s popular with both men and women, with guys joining the ranks more and more every year. The tummy tuck surgically removes excess fat and skin and tightens the abdominal muscles. This is great for men with excess skin on their stomach or after significant weight loss.
The male abdominoplasty procedure is similar to abdominoplasty in women. One main difference: with men, the scar is kept low and straight as opposed to women’s scars, which are curved. In both cases, the scars are designed to sit below the bathing suit to better conceal them. Often, men combine abdominoplasty with muscle sculpting through male liposuction and may have additional work done on their flank area.
We offer two main types of tummy tucks: the mini and the full. With the full tummy tuck, Dr. Timothy Janiga moves the belly button and skin. This procedure is best for men with larger amounts of tissue, fat and skin that needs to be removed. The mini tummy tuck removes less skin. The incision for a mini is equivalent to that of a C-section, and it avoids the belly button completely.
