Swelling and bruising around the donor area and injection sites can last up to two weeks, with most patients being able to return to work within the first week. However, this can vary based on the physical nature of your job and your need for discretion. More strenuous activities and heavy lifting should be avoided for up to four weeks. During the initial recovery period, pain medication and cold compresses can be used to alleviate swelling and reduce discomfort. Usually, only Tylenol or Advil is needed after a fat grafting procedure. Compression garments may also be provided.
