This treatment can stimulate your body’s production of collagen, elastin, and glycoproteins, reducing the appearance of age spots, brown blotches, and other forms of hyperpigmentation. A beta-hydroxy acid derived from willow tree bark, this treatment can be a highly effective option for acne-prone skin. Most patients achieve reduced oil production and anti-acne benefits, including anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal effects. Superficial acne scars can also be smoothed. We recommend this treatment as an effective part of your regular anti-acne care, consisting of a series of four peels spaced 10 days apart. Patients with severely sensitive skin may not be good candidates for a chemical peel. Those with active acne, an active skin infection, or cold sores must wait for their skin to heal to safely receive a chemical peel. In the days leading up to a chemical peel treatment, patients should stay moisturized and avoid significant sun exposure to prevent sunburn or irritation to the treatment area.
Patients with deeper skin conditions like deep scars or wrinkles may benefit from other chemical peel options, including the medium chemical peel or deep chemical peel.
To begin the chemical peel treatment, a JanigaMDs advanced aesthetician will cleanse the patient’s face. A chemical solution will be applied to the top layer of skin and left to sit for a few minutes so that it can break down the outermost layer of skin cells.
