Dysport® is an FDA-approved injectable treatment like Botox®, made up of botulinum toxin type A. It works by blocking nerve signals to the targeted facial muscles responsible for the fine lines and wrinkles being treated. The Dysport® procedure is simple and straightforward; no anesthesia is required. Once the patient is ready, a very small needle will be used to inject the Dysport® into the targeted area(s). While Dysport® injections are not especially painful, a slight pinch might be felt during each injection. The injection process only takes 15 minutes to complete.
Following a Dysport® treatment, patients may experience mild redness and swelling at the injection sites, but this typically resolves in about 20 minutes. It is rare, but bruising at the injection sites is possible. Most patients can immediately return to work and normal activities, strenuous exercise and facial massage or pressure should be avoided for about 4 hours after the procedure.
Patients will begin to see a noticeable reduction in wrinkles within a few days after their cosmetic procedure. Dysport® results typically last 3-4 months, but regular maintenance treatments can be scheduled to preserve your wrinkle-free skin.
