When you opt for a mini facelift procedure, you will benefit from a shorter recovery period and reduced scarring versus a full facelift. Even though it is effective, the mini facelift procedure is not for everybody and it’s important to discuss your goals with Dr. Janiga during a consultation.

What is a mini facelift?

The mini facelift or ‘short scar’ facelift is a variation of the traditional facelift procedure that offers shorter incisions and hence, a shorter recovery. Dr. Janiga will make 2 small incisions during your mini facelift in front of your ears to lift the mid face region. The mini facelift is only able to lift the area around the cheeks and cannot offer a lift to the entire facial area. It will also not offer any combination procedures such as the brow lift or eyelid lift which usually accompany the full facelift procedure for complete rejuvenation.

The mini facelift procedure, however, is an effective option to help you get subtler results. It helps reverse skin laxity which ranges from mild to moderate in the jowls and neck area.

What are the benefits of the mini facelift?

There are limitations of the mini facelift procedure, but there are also many advantages which have made it a popular choice:

• The recovery period is shorter, and most patients return to their routine within a week.
• The incisions will be shorter as well, so any associated pain and swelling is considerably lesser.
• Your mini facelift can be performed under local anesthesia, reducing risks.
• The procedure is less expensive.

Are you a good candidate?

The best candidates for a mini facelift are often younger than those candidates for a traditional facelift — or, in their 40s or 50s. During this period, a mini facelift can often effectively address the beginning signs of aging without the need for a full facelift.

If you are older than 50, there might be significant skin laxity in the face and neck area to a degree that the mini facelift can’t address it. During your consultation, Dr. Janiga can assess your goals and signs of aging to give you the best idea of what to expect from a mini facelift.
