What is Liposculpture?
Plastic surgery has the perfect ability to take a perceived problem and turn it into a solution. Such is the case with liposculpture, which harvests excess fat to modify the body’s contour and shape.
Not only does this surgical procedure remove fat cells from targeted areas of the body, it also helps guide skin retraction after removal, reducing the amount of loose, excess skin. Liposculpture is ideal for patients who have areas of fat deposits that cosmetically are bothersome.
Dr. Timothy Janiga performs liposculpture in a Reno outpatient surgery center using general anesthesia. The excess fat is harvested through liposuction from the patient’s flanks, abdomen, thighs or other undesirable areas.
Liposculpture procedure times can range from one to four hours, depending on the extent of the procedure. Recovery time is approximately two weeks.
Recovery & Results
Swelling and bruising are to be expected and may take two to three weeks to subside, while minimal swelling may persist for several months. Dr. Janiga recommends patients take at least a week off from work and their regular routine to recover. Strenuous activities such as heavy exercise should be avoided for two to three weeks.
Most patients will see full results after six months, while continuing to see improvements up to a year.
