What is Microneedling?
At Janiga MDs we use Dermapen® for microneedling treatments as it’s the most reputable and effective of the devices available. The Dermapen® has 12 very tiny needles to make microscopic channels into the epidermis and the top portion of the dermis. The depth of the needle penetration can be tailored for patient comfort and recovery requirements. The tiny channels are placed in the skin to stimulate collagen, smooth fine lines, improve texture, and even improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks.
The Procedure
For Dermapen® microneedling treatments, we apply a topical anesthetic to the treatment area for a few minutes in order to improve comfort. After you are sufficiently numb, the numbing medication is removed, and the skin is cleansed with an antiseptic to remove any debris or bacteria prior to your procedure. Next, we will pass the Dermapen® over the areas to be treated.
Recovery & Results
After your microneedling session, your skin will be slightly pink similar to a sunburn and may develop a small amount of swelling. Your skin will feel tight, but there is no downtime with this procedure, you can go about your normal activities, but likely you would may want to avoid significant social situations for 2-3 days.
