What is an Eyelid Lift?
Whether you’re looking to improve the overall appearance of your eyelids or are experiencing trouble with your vision, blepharoplasty can rejuvenate the area around your eyes. Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic procedure performed to improve the appearance of the eyelids.
At Janiga MDs, blepharoplasty can be performed on either the upper or lower lids, or both. Common problems blepharoplasty can help treat include excess fat deposits, bags under the eyes, sagging excess skin, fine wrinkles, and loose eyelids that can impair vision.
An upper blepharoplasty involves removing and/or sculpting excess skin and tissue of the upper eyelids. This procedure can be performed for both cosmetic and functional purposes. A lower blepharoplasty can help improve the appearance of bags or excess skin under the eye.
The Procedure
Blepharoplasty is performed in a Reno outpatient surgery center by Dr. Timothy Janiga using general anesthesia; however, it may be performed in our office in select situations.
Discreet incisions are made across the eyelids; skin is then tightened and orbital fat is either reshaped or removed; sutures are put in place to create the desired look.
Blepharoplasty procedures typically take one hour with an additional hour of recovery time.

Recovery & Results
Depending on your profession and need for personal discretion, you may need to allow 5 to 14 days before returning to work. A follow-up visit with Dr. Timothy Janiga will determine your personal recovery time frame. Full results are expected in 8 to 12 weeks.
