What is Breast Augmentation?
There are a lot of reasons to consider breast augmentation. From women who are naturally small-breasted to those seeking to restore breast size and shape after pregnancy or significant weight loss, Janiga MDs offers plenty of options to help you realize your full, ideal body. Breast enhancement is a fairly broad category of procedures that includes breast implants (saline or silicone), breast reduction, or a breast lift.

Options for Breast Augmentation Surgery
As mentioned, there are many options for your surgery to enhance the size or volume of the breasts. These options include the type, size, and material of breast implant, the incision pattern, and the placement depth of your implants. All these factors depend on things like your anatomy and natural breast tissue, your desired enhancement degree, and whether you’re better suited for silicone implants or saline implants.
No matter which option you choose, our board-certified plastic surgeon can help you find the most natural-looking breast implant surgery technique and implants that are right for your figure. Saline and silicone gel implants both have their benefits and drawbacks for certain body types, and although the inframammary incision (beneath the breast fold) is the most common technique used, there are other incision options available if you can clearly benefit from them.
The Procedure
Dr. Timothy Janiga performs breast augmentation procedures in an outpatient surgery center using general anesthesia. The typical breast augmentation procedure generally involves minimal incisions before the chosen implant is placed under the muscle or breast glandular tissue. The procedure takes about one to two hours with another hour of recovery time before going home.

Recovery & Results
It’s normal to expect some swelling and bruising for up to three weeks after breast surgery. You can expect to return to work within five to seven days, sometimes longer if you have a physically intense job. Full results are expected within three months. Once you’ve healed, you’ll see fuller breasts with a very natural and proportionate look for your body.
Breast augmentation patients should not lift anything remotely heavy for up to 6 weeks following their surgery, and depending on the implant location, they should be careful of stretching their arms or chest muscle too tightly to prevent silicone breast implants from shifting or rupturing before their body has a chance to adapt to them. Other restrictions will be discussed with your breast augmentation surgeon during a consultation appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a breast augmentation cost?
The procedure typically costs about $4,000 plus operating room and anesthesia fees. This price can vary depending on how long your procedure is anticipated to take, or if you add a breast lift or liposuction to your procedure.
Am I a good candidate for breast augmentation?
Women who have smaller breasts that do not have significant sag in their breasts are the best candidates for breast augmentation. If a woman’s breast has a bit more laxity to it, then a breast lift typically is required, in addition to breast augmentation.
How long will my results last?
Breast augmentation results will last indefinitely so long as the breast implant is in place. Breast implants may require replacement 10-15 years after initial placement, but this varies by the implant manufacturer and type of implant.
Will I be able to breastfeed after a breast augmentation?
Women should be able to breastfeed after their breast augmentation. There is a small chance it could make the breastfeeding process more difficult.
Is breast augmentation painful?
Breast augmentation is typically uncomfortable for the first week after the surgery. Over the next week, your pain decreases. To help with the immediate post-operative discomfort, Dr. Timothy Janiga uses nerve blocks in the operating room while you are still asleep.
