What is a Mommy Makeover?
Pregnancy can have long-lasting effects on a woman’s body and its appearance. While dedication to diet and exercise can help minimize some of these effects, it’s not always enough. Women can still experience changes in the appearance of their breasts, excess abdominal skin, laxity of the abdominal wall, and a wrinkly appearance to the skin on the abdomen.
Fortunately, the mommy makeover can help. The suite of procedures includes operations that involve rejuvenation of the abdominal wall and breasts in the form of a breast lift and tummy-tuck. Janiga MDs offers mommy makeovers with and without breast implants.

The Procedure
Mommy Makeovers without Implants: We perform breast lifts in our Reno outpatient surgery center with the patient under general anesthesia. It involves an incision around the areola, and depending on the extent of lift needed, may require incisions under the breasts as well. Then, the tummy tuck is performed. Tummy tucks generally involve an incision that allows for muscle and skin tightening and fat removal. Occasionally liposuction is used in conjunction with the tummy-tuck to help contour the hip and flank region.
Mommy Makeovers with Implants: As in the procedure above, the breast augmentation is performed in our Reno outpatient surgery center under general anesthesia. It involves an incision around the areola, and depending on the extent of lift needed, may require an additional incision under the breasts. Silicone or saline implants are placed either under the muscle or breast gland to improve the overall breast shape.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a mommy makeover right for me?
A mommy makeover is right for you if you have had changes to both your breast and abdomen after having children that you find undesirable, or if you find it difficult to achieve your own results despite dietary changes and exercise.
What is a mommy makeover?
A mommy makeover is a surgery that involves both the breast and the abdomen. For the breast, this portion often involves a breast lift and/or breast augmentation. For the abdomen, this portion involves a tummy tuck where the loose skin on the abdomen is removed and the muscles on the abdomen that have been stretched from having children are repaired.
How noticeable are mommy makeover scars?
For the breast surgery portion, a straight breast augmentation has very minimal scars and can be nicely hidden. If a breast lift or a breast reduction is required, there are more incisions involved with this and Dr. Janiga will review the specifics of your breast surgery with you at your visit. For the tummy portion of the mommy makeover, the incision is placed low like a C-section scar but is usually longer than the C-section scar. In most cases the incision is from hip bone to hip bone.
What can I expect during recovery from mommy makeover surgery?
With a mommy makeover surgery in general, the breast portion of the operation is usually handled very well. It is the tummy tuck that is usually most sore, particularly when the muscles on the abdomen are repaired. Dr. Janiga uses a long-acting anesthetic medication, Exparel, as a nerve-block that significantly helps the post-operative pain associated with the tummy tuck surgery portion.
Can I have more children after a mommy makeover?
You can have more children after mommy makeover surgery, but the skin and muscles will often be stretched out again. Also, your breasts will become larger with milk production. This can often require revisional surgery in the future.
