What is a Facelift?
A facelift is one of the most effective procedures to help reverse the visible effects of age, gravity and weight loss. The facelift procedure works by removing excess skin in the face and neck — often the first areas to show signs of aging. Prominent nasolabial folds and loose skin at the jawline are some of the early signs of facial aging. Facelift surgery tightens the underlying facial structures to give a more youthful, natural appearance.
At Janiga MDs, we offer a variety of additional popular procedures that can be performed in conjunction with a facelift. These include: Brow Lift, Facial Fat Injections, Neck Lift, Eyelid Lift, Chin Augmentation, Fat Grafting, and Lip Lift.

The Procedure
Dr. Timothy Janiga performs this surgical procedure in an outpatient surgery center using general anesthesia. Incisions are made in front of the ear, around the earlobe and back into the posterior hairline. The facial skin and underlying structures are lifted and restored to a more youthful position. In some patients, an additional incision can be made just underneath the chin if further neck tightening is required. Often we’ll use fat grafting in conjunction with a facelift to provide additional volume to the cheeks, lips, and nasolabial folds.
Face lift surgery will diminish deep creases on the face and neck, creating a more defined jaw and neckline. Dr. Timothy Janiga takes pride in his patient’s natural results, revealing a youthful, refreshed appearance.
The cosmetic surgery takes approximately three hours with an additional two hours of recovery time.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the best age for a facelift?
You can have a facelift at any age when you start seeing moderate to severe signs of aging, like deep folds and skin laxity. However, most patients will utilize noninvasive or minimally invasive procedures as long as possible before having surgery. Facelifts are typically deferred until 45- 50 years old.
How can I tighten my jawline?
Some non-surgical techniques like radiofrequency skin tightening can help tighten the jawline, but if there’s excess skin, usually only a surgical removal of the skin is able to truly tighten the appearance.
Does a facelift make you look younger?
Yes, the goal of a facelift is to remove the signs of aging to rejuvenate a person’s appearance so they look, on average, 10-15 years younger.
Is a facelift permanent?
The skin that is removed during a facelift does not come back, but you do continue to age from that point forward.
How painful is a facelift?
You’ll be sedated during the procedure itself, and most patients report that during recovery, they have minimal discomfort that is managed well with medications prescribed.
