BREAST AUGMENTATION FAQs
Are you put to sleep for liposuction?
It depends on where the procedure is being done and how big the area is. Local anesthetic or general anesthesia can be used. Your surgeon will recommend the type thats best for you.
Where can I have liposuction?
Liposuction is a versatile procedure and can be used to contour the neck, arms, legs, abdomen, back, bra fat, and love handles.
Is liposuction painful?
Anesthesia minimizes pain during the liposuction procedure, so most people don’t feel discomfort. However, mild to moderate discomfort pain is common during the recovery phase.
How long does liposuction last?
The fat cells removed during the procedure do not grow back, making the effects permanent in those areas. However, weight gain after liposuction can lead to fat storage in different body areas.
How many sizes do you lose with liposuction?
The main goal of liposuction is body contouring rather than weight loss, so while you may see a size reduction, the focus is on achieving a more proportionate, sculpted shape.
Will my skin tighten with lipo?
Liposuction alone removes fat but does not tighten the skin, so patient selection for liposuction only procedures is very important. Individuals with good skin elasticity are less likely to experience sagging, but there are procedures such as BodyTite that can combine a tightening procedure with liposuction for those with some skin laxity also. Dr. Janiga will evaluate you individually to determine which procedure is best for you.
Is a breast lift covered by insurance?
As an elective cosmetic surgery, breast lifts are not covered under insurance. However, we will work with you to ensure your procedure is affordable.
Do you lose sensation with breast lift?
Sensation loss on the breast or nipple after breast surgery is possible. You should speak to your provider directly about your risk of this as it is different for each type of incision and the extent of your surgery.
Does a breast lift leave scars?
A breast lift may leave scars but they are typically placed in an inconspicuous place.
How long do breast lift results last?
A breast lift is a permanent change to the position of the breast as the excess tissue is removed with the procedure, but you will continue to age after your surgery and the natural breast position will change with that aging process or weight fluctuations.
Does a breast lift make the breast smaller?
A breast lift aims to reduce sagging and reposition the nipple-areolar complex to its more youthful position which in some cases requires a small amount of tissue removal. However, a breast lift does not necessarily reduces the size of the breast; this would require a breast reduction.
When should I get a breast lift?
If you’re not planning on having children in the future and want to have breasts with a more youthful appearance, it may be a good time to look into breast lift surgery.
