What is Belotero?
Belotero is one of the lightest dermal fillers available. Sometimes referred to as the “starter filler,” it is ideal for patients who want to reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the lips, corners of the mouth and to treat superficial acne scars.
Belotero contains hyaluronic acid which is a sugar found naturally in the skin and joints. When injected under the skin in the targeted area, the hyaluronic acid expands to fill in wrinkles while providing volume where contour may be lacking. The dermal filler also attracts water to the skin’s surface resulting in a fresh, youthful glow and improved skin texture.
Belotero is a thin hyaluronic acid filler, which makes it ideal for treating areas around the mouth where the skin tends to be thinner.
Belotero treatments are quick and relatively painless. A topical anesthetic is first applied to the targeted area to eliminate discomfort during the procedure. Once the anesthetic has taken effect, the dermal filler is injected under the skin using a very small, thin needle.
The procedure takes between 10 and 30 minutes. Minimal swelling, bruising and tenderness may be common and last up to a week.
Results & Recovery
Minimal side effects may include temporary redness, tenderness, swelling and bruising in the treated area, which should last no longer than a week.
Each person’s response to medication is different, but in general, Belotero lasts between four to six months. The effects should be immediately visible, with continuous correction as the product absorbs water. Treated areas will appear smoother, fuller and ultimately, more youthful.

Belotero treatments are performed in the Janiga MDs Reno offices. Because it is a minor non-surgical treatment, there is no recovery time and people can return to normal activities right after the procedure.
