While Juvederm fillers are safe for most patients, those who have a history of allergic reaction to lidocaine and those with active acne or cold sores may not be able to receive treatment until those areas are healed. Before a Juvederm treatment session, patients must avoid alcohol, aspirin, certain herbal supplements, and other medications since these can increase the risk of excessive bruising or bleeding post-treatment.
During treatment, Juvederm injections are made into the targeted area(s) using a fine-gauge needle.
