Restylane® Defyne is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler created to replenish volume loss and reduce moderate lines. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that hydrates the skin and gives it elasticity for a smooth, firm texture. It also helps stimulate collagen production, a protein that further aids in elasticity and skin volume. By creating a subtle plumping effect, fillers can smooth wrinkles, fill in facial folds, and add definition.
Created with Galderma’s XpresHAn technology, the hyaluronic acid particles in the Restylane Defyne formula are cross-linked, providing flexibility and smoothness. This flexibility restores youthful volume with dramatic rejuvenation while maintaining natural facial movement to avoid an “overdone” look.
This filler is specifically designed to fill in deep smile lines (nasolabial folds) that run from the corners of the nose to the mouth, smooth marionette lines, which run from the corners of the mouth to the chin, address moderate-to-severe mid-face volume loss, enhance your facial expressions, and provide rejuvenation in the lower face. The structured formula is also an effective choice for minimally invasive, non-surgical chin augmentation.
Defyne can be used alone or in combination with other Restylane fillers, like Restylane Lyft, Restylane Refyne, and Restylane Silk, to treat other areas of the face, like the lips, cheeks, and under-eye hollows.
Individuals 21 years and older with mild to moderate wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth can often benefit from Restylane Defyne. Good candidates will be in good health overall and have realistic expectations for their procedure. People with active areas of infection should not receive injections in those areas. Alcohol and blood-thinning medications or herbal supplements should be avoided for a few days before treatment.
Restylane Defyne injections are performed by Dr. Janiga or one of our experienced injectors. Before your injection, a topical anesthetic is usually applied. and Restylane® Defyne contains lidocaine, which is a local anesthetic to give added comfort. Then, with a fine-gauge needle, we will perform a series of injections into the treatment area(s). The treatment is quick, usually only taking about 15-30 minutes to complete, depending on the number of treatment areas.
There is minimal downtime and recovery after Restylane injections. Patients may experience mild swelling and bruising following treatment, which will resolve with time. It is recommended that patients avoid strenuous exercise and excess sun exposure for 24 hours following treatment to reduce swelling and maintain results. Patients can immediately return to work and other daily activities.
Restylane Defyne immediately adds volume, but the best results will be seen after two weeks, once the filler has settled. The appearance of your skin will remain youthful for up to 12 months, and injections can be scheduled annually for regular maintenance. Patients can expect natural-looking results customized to their unique facial structure and features.
