What is an Arm Lift?
An Arm Lift is an aesthetic surgical procedure that tightens and removes excess fat and skin from the upper arm. Dr. Janiga, in Reno, has found this procedure to be effective for men and women who are self-conscious about excess fat and sagging upper arm skin. Excess skin on the upper arm often develops over time, or after weight-loss from dieting, exercise, or post-bariatric surgery.
How is the Upper Arm Lift performed?
Dr. Janiga performs arm lift surgery in an outpatient surgery center under general anesthesia. It involves an incision along the inner side of the upper arm that allows for removal of excess skin and fatty tissues. Liposuction is often incorporated into the procedure. Dr. Janiga can modify the extent of the incision depending on the amount of excess skin that is present.
How long does the Arm Lift take?
This procedure takes one hour with another hour of recovery time before going home.
How much recovery time will I need?
Swelling and bruising may last up to four weeks. You can expect to return to work within 5-7 days. Full results are expected within 9-12 months. Dr. Janiga recommends a compression garment on the upper arm for 6 weeks post-operatively.
Will there be scarring?
An upper arm lift is a surgical procedure which utilizes an incision based on your specific needs and physical expectations. Dr. Janiga chooses placement of this incision in such a way so as to diminish the visibility of any arm lift scars. He will discuss with you your specific expected results during your consultation so that you will know what to expect before you begin.
What are the typical results?
Dr. Janiga’s patients can expect a slimmer, tighter, and more contoured upper arm. At your consultation Dr. Janiga will examine you and be able to give you an individualized operative plan and discuss your expected outcomes.
