What is rhinoplasty?

This procedure refines the features of your nose to make them more proportionate to the rest of your face. This is one of the most artistic procedures in plastic surgery and experience is crucial for good decision making and achieving positive results. Dr. Timothy Janiga also performs septoplasties to improve nasal breathing.

How rhinoplasty procedures performed?

Rhinoplasty is done under general anesthesia in our Reno surgery center. This typically involves an incision underneath the nose and on the inside of the nose. The cartilage and bone of the nose is often reshaped and the septum straightened to improve nasal breathing. Often cartilage grafts from the nasal septum are used to improve and refine the appearance of the nasal tip and dorsum. Dr. Timothy Janiga works very closely with his patients both in counseling and operative planning to obtain a desired result.

How long will rhinoplasty take?

This procedure takes approximately one to three hours with one to two hours of recovery time before leaving the surgery center.

How much recovery time should I expect?

An external nasal splint and internal septal splint are left in place for one week. Once this is removed return to work and activity is generally acceptable. Full results are expected within nine months. Mild swelling of the nasal tip can last up to a year.

What are the typical results for a nose job?

Generally a nose job results in a more proportionate and desired look to the nose; however, individual results may vary. Dr. Timothy Janiga will provide you with a more realistic expectation of your personal outcome.

Do you perform rhinoplasty in your Reno/Tahoe office?

Yes. We evaluate and treat patients who desire rhinoplasty (nose job). Initial consultation length varies, but is usually not more than 15-30 minutes. The actual procedure will take longer and will be discussed in detail when your procedure is scheduled.
