What Age Should You Ideally Start Botox?

I am commonly asked what is the right age to start Botox. This answer typically varies based on your goals and desired outcomes, however, there are some general rules that can help you decide if it’s the right time for you to come in to Janiga MDs to have a consultation for Botox in Reno.

There are two philosophies when it comes to Botox: prevention of wrinkles or treatment of existing wrinkles. The patient who is focused on prevention tends to be women or men in their 20s or 30s who are looking to prevent lines from forming altogether. They typically do not currently have any wrinkles or lines on the forehead or around the eyes, but use Botox to prevent the lines from forming in their 40s and 50s.

If you are already in your 40s or 50s and seeing lines or would prefer to delay starting Botox until those lines appear, then you would fall into the treatment philosophy. For treatment of the fine lines and wrinkles that have already formed we usually start Botox right away. Over the course of a few months those lines that have formed will flatten out and disappear.

When thinking about your approach to using Botox, keep in mind that each person is a little different in the way that they form the lines on their face. Some people get prominent lines between the eyes, while other people get more around their eyes or forehead. It just depends on the way your face specifically matures.

If you would like to see if it’s time for you to start Botox and get more information on treatment versus prevention, make an appointment at Janiga MDs and our team of Reno skincare experts will perform a thorough consultation.

If you have any other questions about Botox and the right time to start treatment, leave a comment and I’ll respond.
