But what exactly happens during facelift surgery? We have a carefully cultivated process for all of our patients to achieve all their goals.
During your initial consultation, Dr. Janiga will review your medical history and outline the procedure, tailoring it to your needs. He will analyze your current facial structure and determine the necessary treatments to accomplish your goals. At the consultation, you will discuss the combination options available to you and the steps that will be necessary for your pre- and post-operative care.
The facelift procedure typically involves using advanced surgical techniques masking incisions in front and behind the ear, repositioning facial tissue and muscle, then redraping the skin and removing excess skin. If other treatments are being combined at the same time, such as a blepharoplasty, brow lift, or chin augmentation or reduction, your procedure will have individualized additional incisions. A full explanation of what to expect during your surgery will be provided during your consultation and before your surgery itself. All our surgical treatments are performed in our own surgical facility, Mountain West Surgical Center.
The initial stages of your recovery after your cosmetic procedure will take about two weeks, after which most patients are able to return to work and most normal activities. Stitches will be removed about a week after surgery. You will want to rest as much as possible, avoid strenuous activity, take some time off work, and follow Dr. Janiga’s after-care instructions as provided.
Most healthy patients wanting to achieve a younger-looking appearance are good candidates for a facelift. That said, there are some criteria we stick to in order to determine whether a facelift is a good option for a patient or not. You should be in generally good health, have realistic expectations, be a nonsmoker, and not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
