Top Anti-Aging Products under $50, under $100, and under $300
As a physician’s assistant, patients often ask me what my “insider” anti-aging products are. They want to know what product I use and recommend to my friends. The second question I get is, “What should I buy if I only had xx dollars?”
I decided to use today’s blog to share what I tell them…
First, the five essentials of skin care are the topical application of sunscreen, retinoids, antioxidants, growth factors and moisturizer. By far the most important of these is the daily use of sunscreen, which not only prevents UV damage to the skin, which can and does lead to skin cancer but it also minimizes other signs of aging such as brown spots, red spots and wrinkles.
While sunscreen prevents damage to the skin, the other essentials such as retinoids, antioxidants and growth factors all work to repair the damage that has already been done. Finally, moisturizer is needed for everyone but mostly for those of us who live in this dry climate.
With that in mind, here are my picks for anti-aging products for every budget.
Anti-Aging Product Pick for $50 and Under
My first choice for an anti-aging product costing under $50 is the Elta MD UV Facial, a broad-spectrum SPF 30+.
This product is an effective sunscreen for daily use on your face, neck, ears and any other sun-exposed area and has a light moisturizer, which is perfect in Reno’s dry climate. The active ingredient is colorless Zinc oxide which is cosmetically pleasing because it disappears after being applied, leaving no white or pasty look. This product is available at our office at $28 for a four-ounce container which should last about a month.
Anti-Aging Product Pick for $100 and Under
My choice for an anti-aging product costing less than $100, is the SkinMedica TNS Eye Repair which is specifically formulated for use around the eyes and works well on all skin types and for any age.
Dark circles and fine lines around the eyes are a common concern of patients, especially over the age of 30, and this product hydrates that sensitive skin and also contains growth factors, peptides, antioxidants, and hyaluronic acid which improve overall skin tone, while lessening the appearance of fine lines and dark circles.
SkinMedica TNS Eye Repair, available at Janiga MDs, is $98 for a 0.5 ounce container and requires only a tiny dollop with each application. If used twice a day it should last about six months, and if used only once nightly about a year.
Anti-Aging Product Pick for $300 and Under
My favorite product of all is the TNS Essential Serum. It is a topical anti-aging serum for the skin of the face, neck and chest and will get you the most bang for your buck! It too contains growth factors, antioxidants and peptides and is neither a drying nor hydrating cream, meaning it is appropriate for all skin types.
It is available here at Janiga MDs for $270. I love this anti-aging product! Within a few weeks I noticed a more even skin tone, subtle plumping of my skin and an overall glow. I’ve had similar reports from patients.
