Made with a thick, cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel, it’s formulated specifically for enhancing and defining the jawline with one of the most substantial formulations available from Juvéderm® by Allergan Aesthetics. In fact, it’s the first FDA-approved HA filler specifically designed for jawline definition.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural complex sugar found in your skin that helps maintain hydration and skin elasticity. By retaining water molecules and stimulating collagen production, it also provides a subtle plumping effect. When Volux™ is injected into the skin around the jawline, it can further define the jawline’s contours for a more defined look from every angle. Volux™ is also part of the XC collection, meaning it contains lidocaine for a more comfortable injection experience.
A weak jawline or recessed chin can dramatically impact facial proportions, particularly in the lower third of the face. Volux can combat these effects and make the chin look more pronounced. Jowls and volume loss along the lower face are also an early sign of aging, and this jawline filler can restore a more youthful appearance by improving moderate to severe loss of jawline definition. Volux™ is a great option for patients who are bothered by a weak jawline but aren’t ready for surgery or are not good candidates for surgery. If you’re considering dermal filler treatment, you should be in overall good health. Because hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring substance, Volux is safe for most patients, but those with a history of severe allergies to lidocaine will need to inform their provider so special formulations without lidocaine can be ordered for those patients. During a consultation with our providers, patients will discuss their desired result with Dr. Jennifer Janiga or her associates, and she will assess their skin quality and facial structures to ensure safety and create a personalized treatment plan.
For even more effective jawline contouring, your treatment plan can also include Kybella®, a non-surgical way to reduce a double chin. Dr. Janiga can help you determine the best approach for your specific needs.
Volux™ treatment can be completed in about 30-45minutes. First, the treatment area will be cleansed and numbed with a topical numbing medication. After about 20 minutes, the numbing medication will be wiped off, the injection site will be cleaned, and the product will be injected using a fine needle to minimize discomfort. After the injections are complete, patients can return to work and everyday activities.
There’s no downtime necessary after Volux™, although you may have minor bruising or swelling around the injection sites, and the jaw may be sore for a day or two. Dr. Janiga recommends the use of over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication and cold compresses to minimize swelling and discomfort. Strenuous activities and excess sun exposure should be avoided for 24-48 hours.
You will notice an improvement in your jawline contour right away, but you should allow 1-2 weeks for all swelling to subside and 4 weeks for your final results to settle in. Although the lower jaw will have a more chiseled look, Dr. Janiga carefully places fillers to ensure natural-looking results with a new jaw shape that complements the surrounding facial features.
