Dr. Timothy Janiga Honored Again by American Institute of Plastic Surgery

Dr. Timothy Janiga Honored by AIOPS | Janiga MDs

For Dr. Timothy Janiga, there’s nothing more gratifying than seeing a patient transformed by a life-changing plastic surgery procedure. Being able to help others – whether they require facial reconstruction, reconstructive surgery for breast cancer or simply a new look – is a reward in itself. But of course, industry awards aren’t too bad, either!

We’re proud to announce that, for the second year in a row, Dr. Janiga has been nominated and accepted in the American Institute of Plastic Surgeons 10 Best in Nevada awards for client satisfaction.

Established in 2015, AIOPS is a third-party rating organization that publishes an annual list of the top 10 plastic surgeons in each state. In order to be selected, surgeons must undergo a rigorous selection process involving patient and peer nominations, thorough research and AIOPS’s independent evaluation of the doctor. To be honored, surgeons must also receive a 10 out of 10 in client satisfaction with no negative feedback of any kind. According to AIOPS, the annual list was created as a resource for patients during the surgeon selection process.

“One of the most significant aspects of the selection process involves surgeons’ relationships and reputation among his or her patients,” AIOPS said in a press release, adding that it places, “the utmost emphasis on selecting surgeons who have achieved significant success in the field of plastic surgery without sacrificing the service and support they provide.”

Dr. Timothy Janiga is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and is designated as a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He recently was voted a Top Doctor by RealSelf.

Great News: Vollure Dermal Filler Now Available at Janiga MDs

Our friends at Juvéderm have upped the ante in the dermal filler game once again. Introducing Vollure, a filler for nasolabial folds and marionette lines that lasts for up to two years. For anyone who has followed the progression of dermal fillers and others over the years, this is pretty exciting news.

Made by parent company Allergan, Vollure was recently approved by the FDA and added to the V-O-L product line from Juvéderm, which includes Voluma and Volbella. Juvéderm’s VOL products are unique in that they have the Vycross technology, which allows them to last much longer than some previous fillers.

Coming from the trusted Juvéderm family, Vollure is a great new entry into the market as it’s the first-ever FDA filler approved to last up to 18 months for nasolabial folds and marionette lines.

Janiga MDs now carries a full complement of revolumization products that target different areas of your face and is tailored to each individual patient.

So, what is Vollure, exactly?

In short, Vollure is similar to Juvéderm in that it’s placed in the nasolabial folds (also known as smile lines or laugh lines) and marionette lines in the deep dermal layer. It’s what we consider a “softer” product than Juvéderm and is best for patients with mild to moderate creases. It’s the perfect middle-of-the-road solution for laugh lines that are just enough to bother you.

Vollure can be combined with Voluma, Volbella and Juvéderm to tailor the fill, softness and longevity desired by each individual patient. So, Vollure really is made just for you.
Thanks to the addition of Vollure to the Juvéderm family, Janiga MDs now carries a full complement of revolumization products that target different areas of your face and is tailored to each individual patient.

Interested in learning more about Vollure or any other Juvéderm product? Please call the office and schedule your consultation to see which of these products are right for you.

For Mother’s Day, Consider a Mommy Makeover

Mommy Makeover

This Mother’s Day, why not consider treating yourself to a little something? Something like a whole new you! As summer nears, our thoughts turn to vacation, beach time, and lazy days soaking in the sun. With that also comes bikini season, and what better way to enjoy it than with a new and improved figure?

One of the most popular procedures we perform at Janiga MDs is the Mommy Makeover.  It’s actually two combined surgeries – breast surgery with a tummy tuck. This is designed to restore the shape of the breasts and stomach to a pre-pregnancy appearance.  It is also perfect for when you’ve experience a significant weight loss.

Mommy Makeover: Breast Surgery

When you choose a Mommy Makeover from Janiga MDs, you have several options with the breast surgery portion of the procedure. Breasts can tend to lose volume and shape.  You might want a breast lift, with or without implants.  Often, a woman will choose to simply have her breasts repositioned post-pregnancy.  Once you’ve consulted with Dr. Timothy Janiga, you and Dr. Janiga will decide the best plan for yourself.

In other cases, a woman could be concerned with their breast projection. For this, Dr. Janiga can place a breast implant either under or on top of the muscle to improve projection and give breasts a more youthful look.

Mommy Makeover: Tummy Tuck

The other component to the Mommy Makeover is the tummy tuck that comes with your procedure. The tummy tuck removes excess skin in the abdominal area. With a tummy tuck, there’s an incision usually from hip to hip. One of the advantages of this is being able to help cover a C-section scar and the scar is below the bikini line, so it can be hidden by your new summer bikini. Dr. Janiga also repairs the diastasis, which helps women regain their pre-pregnancy waists, restoring yourself to a desirable hourglass shape.

Whichever options you go with this summer, the Mommy Makeover is a procedure our patients are consistently happy with. We are sure you will be, too. Please set up a complimentary consultation with Dr. Janiga to discuss whether you’re a good candidate for a Mommy Makeover in our Reno offices. In the complimentary consultation, Dr. Janiga will walk you through your expectations, show you before and after photos, and explain the procedure in full detail.

Stay Dry This Summer with The Help of miraDry

There’s lots to look forward to as the seasons start to change. With its longer, warmer days, summer is the ideal time to get out and enjoy yourself. That is, unless you suffer from excessive sweating. And let’s be honest, nothing can put a damper on your summer plans quite like underarm sweat and odor. But what if we told you it didn’t have to be that way? At Janiga MDs, we offer a simple solution to all your perspiration problems. Introducing miraDry.

miraDry is an in-office treatment that reduces sweating, odor and hair growth by up to 80 percent from the underarm region. Compared with BOTOX®, which requires multiple treatments and can cost over $1,000 per visit, miraDry is simple and straightforward. miraDry is the ideal solution for almost everybody, including both men and women suffering from excessive sweating and odor, avoiding deodorant due to aluminum chloride exposure, or even those who have had laser hair removal in their underarms.

The procedure lasts about one hour with little to no discomfort during or even after. To begin, a grid is placed in the underarm area, followed by anesthesia. Each underarm takes about 15-45 minutes to complete. On average, roughly 90 percent of patients see significant, long-lasting results after just one session and can resume exercising within a few days of their procedure.

If the fear of increased sweating in other locations of your body due to miraDry have you concerned, not to worry. Sweat glands found in the underarm are of a specific type and not found throughout the rest of the body. And for this reason, your sweating will not increase as a result of the miraDry procedure.

If you’re ready to say goodbye to embarrassing underarm perspiration and odor for good, schedule your complimentary miraDry consolation with Janiga MDs by calling our office at 775-398-4600 or emailing us today.

Dr. Timothy Janiga Honored with Vitals.com Patient Choice Award

Timothy Janiga Reno Plastic Surgeon

At Janiga MDs, we continuously strive to offer our patients the most comprehensible care in the state. Although the incredible results and relationships we’ve achieved over the years are hard to deny, sometimes hearing it directly from our patients makes all the difference.

Well, you’ve spoken and the industry has heard. Janiga MDs is proud to announce that Dr. Timothy Janiga has yet again received the Patients Choice Award from Vitals.com, a website dedicated to helping people make smarter healthcare decisions. This marks the second time since 2013 that Dr. Janiga has received this prestigious honor.

Vitals Patients’ Choice Award winners are chosen on the number and overall ratings received from patients over the course of a year. Physicians are rated on a broad spectrum of professional qualities, including bedside manner, doctor-patient face time and degree of follow-up. This honor is only awarded to a very small percentage of physicians. According to the company’s most recent press release, only seven percent of physicians were eligible for the award this year.

“Overall, we know people are looking for doctors that listen and give them a say in decisions about their own health,” said Mitch Rothschild, Founder and Executive Chairman of Vitals. “Thanks to the millions of people in the Vitals community, it’s easier to recognize the doctors who are doing good by doing well by their patients.”

We are proud of Dr. Tim’s hard work and accomplishments within the industry, and congratulate him on this amazing honor. We look forward to providing our patients – both new and old – with the highest quality professional services and overall care for years to come.

How Much Does a Tummy Tuck Cost?

You’ve tried it all. Exercising until you “feel the burn,” doing crunches until you can’t stand up straight for days, cutting carbs until all you do is dream about ice cream, pastries and pizza. We get it. Sometimes, the greatest of intentions still leave you shy of the goal line. So it is with a flat, smooth stomach and toned abs. All the diet and exercise in the world can get you to a certain point, but sometimes nature needs a little extra help when it comes to being toned and tight.

Enter the abdominoplasty, or, as it’s better known, the tummy tuck.

One of our most popular procedures, the tummy tuck, is a surgical procedure that creates a smoother looking abdomen by removing extra skin and fat that often results from significant weight loss, pregnancy, age and other factors.

Dr. Timothy Janiga performs tummy tucks at a Reno outpatient center. The procedure takes about two hours, with another couple of hours for post-operative recovery time. The best part comes several weeks later when you’re back on your feet and enjoying a tighter, slimmer waistline and abs.

Tummy Tuck Cost

On average, a full tummy tuck will cost between $7,000 and $8,000, and this price includes the Operating Room and anesthesia. We find this ballpark estimate holds true for most patients, but we encourage you to set up a consultation with Dr. Janiga to go over the specifics of your procedure. During your consultation, Dr. Janiga will give you detailed pricing information and discuss specific goals for how you’d like to look once your procedure has been performed.

The Mini-Tummy Tuck Option

A standard tummy tuck is actually a two-part operation, all done at one time. This includes repairing the abdominal wall and the second involving the excision of excess skin and tissue. With a mini tummy tuck, we only remove a small amount of tissue from below the belly button, and the resulting scar can be easily disguised. In short, the mini tummy tuck removes a limited amount of skin and the belly button is not moved. As always, we suggest you set up a consultation to discuss which procedure works best for you.

For before and after pictures of tummy tuck surgeries, see our photo gallery.

Whichever option you choose, keep in mind that Janiga MDs has vast experience in combining an abdominoplasty with other procedures such as breast augmentation, breast reduction, liposuction, a facelift or rhinoplasty.

Schedule a consultation today with Dr. Timothy Janiga to see if you’re a candidate for a full or mini tummy tuck, or if a combined procedure is right for you.

Got Wrinkles? Discover the Best Ways to Treat Them.

Good news and bad news for wrinkles. The bad news? There is no one “cure-all” to permanently fix all your wrinkles. But that’s also the good news. In this day and age, there are a number of specifically-designed wrinkle treatments such as fillers that target certain areas of the face, giving you more reliable results than ever before.

First, it helps to understand the various types of wrinkles we develop over time. Fine wrinkles come from smiling while deep wrinkles come with age and can be made worse by lax skin. We’ve found that topical products such as retinoids are well suited to deal with fine lines and wrinkles, while wrinkles associated with movement respond well to injectables. Wrinkles with textural irregularity can be treated with lasers, while lax skin is best dealt with by undergoing surgery.

Some of the most time-tested topical solutions for wrinkles are retinoids. Among them, Retin A is the most recognized product for good reason. By building new collagen in the skin, retinoids such as Retin A decrease the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, particularly when used daily. Retinoids also serve as a skin exfoliant, which helps other anti-aging products to better penetrate the pores while keeping your skin looking fresh and young.

Injectables and Fillers
With injectables and fillers, there’s an almost overwhelming number of options, so it’s best to understand how each works before committing to one treatment over the other. The biggest names in injectables are BOTOX® and Dysport. These neurotoxins inhibit muscle movement for up to four months with each treatment. BOTOX® and Dysport are particularly useful for forehead wrinkles, but can be used to reduce the appearance of crow’s feet and neck bands, as well. These injectables tend to work best when used continuously because they slow the progression of wrinkles.

Xeomin targets moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows by blocking the nerve impulses of specific facial muscles while inhibiting movement that causes wrinkles.

Fillers help with deeper lines and include products such as Juvéderm, Restylane, Radiesse and others.

Juvéderm is a medium-thickness injectable which helps restore the contours of your face, including areas around the mouth, nose and forehead. Within the Juvéderm family, you’ll also find Volbella, a dermal filler that helps define the lips and eliminates wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth by tapping into the power of Hyaluronic Acid. Volbella is ideal for treating the most delicate areas of the face.

Another Juvéderm product is Voluma, which is specifically formulated to treat age-related midface volume loss, including the cheekbone area. Created from a naturally occurring component of human skin, Voluma is both safe and effective for restoring a youthful look to your face. Voluma is approved by the FDA to be effective for up to two years.

Injectable Restylane also restores the face’s natural contours, and is particularly effective on facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane Lyft is a newer product designed to boost volume in your cheeks.

Radiesse is a dermal filler that’s different because it is not made of Hyaluronic acid, but rather calcium. It helps correct wrinkling while contouring specific areas of the face and is effective for up to 24 months, depending on where it’s injected.

Janiga MDs offers several laser options to help improve skin texture and smooth out wrinkles. Treatments include ablative and non-ablative lasers such as the ICON resurfacing laser. These procedures are performed in-house at our Reno plastic surgery and cosmetic offices.

When injectables, fillers and laser resurfacing aren’t the best option, a facelift just might be the perfect treatment, especially if you have lax skin. At Janiga MDs, we offer two main varieties of facelifts, including a standard facelift and a mini (or, in-office) facelift. The biggest difference in these two is that a standard facelift is performed using general anesthesia in a surgery center, while the mini can be performed in our office using a local anesthesia. Both are designed to help remove excess skin in the face and neck while tightening the deeper structures to give you a more youthful appearance.

If you’d like to learn more about injectables, fillers, laser treatments or facelifts, schedule a consultation with us today. When you meet with our board-certified physicians, we’ll discuss the very best treatment options for you and walk you through what to expect at each step along the way. Contact us or call us at 775-398-4600 today.

Ready For A Game Changer? Meet ThreeForMe™

What can you accomplish in 30 minutes? It doesn’t sound like much time when you think about it. Thirty minutes is about the length of a TV sitcom or a quick workday lunch break. But it’s also how long it takes to say goodbye to tired, dull skin and hello to a more youthful-looking you, thanks to a new procedure at Janiga MDs.

Introducing ThreeForMe™.

Laser Resurfacing

In as little as a single office visit, this revolutionary new laser treatment will change what you see in the mirror for the better. People have long assumed that the brown spots, redness and wrinkles on our face were simple facts of life, and that while you could take steps to prevent further damage, you couldn’t reverse them. ThreeForMe™ turns the tables on that idea with a simple, 30-minute procedure.

Given that we lose one percent of our skin’s collagen each year after 30 and that 80 percent of all wrinkles are caused by exposure to the sun, ThreeForMe™ is here to combat what we previously considered natural parts of aging. Using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology with the ICON resurfacing laser, ThreeForMe™ solves three problems at once: sun damage and brown spots, wrinkles and facial veins.

Dr. Jennifer Janiga has been performing this combination of treatments in different variations for the past two years.  With more and more success came ThreeForMe™, a combined treatment of three lasers in one treatment for clients seeking to improve the visible effects of sun exposure. In the first step of the process, Dr. Janiga addresses brown skin discoloration with specific tailored settings for your skin type and brown areas.  Second, facial veins that have been caused by sun exposure and everyday toxins are treated using the MaxG ICON specific tip.  Third, she then turns her attention to your wrinkles and collagen with an erbium microbeam laser designed to stimulate collagen and elastin production.

Is it painful? Not particularly. While there is some mild discomfort including a cooling sensation during the procedure and a warming feeling afterward, most patients experience a feeling similar to the snapping of a rubber band against skin during the procedure. You might also expect a little redness and swelling – not unlike what you’d get with a sunburn – but these issues typically resolve in a couple of days. Even better, ThreeForMe™ is such a quick procedure, you can return to work the same day.

As for results, they’re pretty impressive. Most patients need between one and three treatments to get maximum results. After the first treatment, you’ll notice improvement to the facial veins. Then, the brown spots will darken before falling off, leaving you with a youthful glow you haven’t seen in years. The collagen stimulation continues for six months after your treatment so the fine lines and wrinkles of your face will show dramatic improvement as your skin responds to the treatment.

Dr. Janiga is now accepting patients considering the ThreeForMe™ procedure. To find out if it’s right for you, contact us via email or call 775-398-4600.

Top Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery Trends For 2017

Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Trends

What a year! As we close the books on 2016, it’s always helpful to take a look back at the trends that dominated cosmetic and plastic surgery to get a better sense of what’s coming in 2017.

In 2016, Janiga MDs saw a definite increase in cosmetic surgeries as well as noninvasive procedures. Two of the more popular procedures were breast augmentation and Kybella. Of course, these are two very different procedures in terms of end results, but both share the common denominator of helping patients achieve their ideal look with a little help from science.

With breast augmentation, we use breast implants to make breasts larger and fuller. This procedure also can restore breast size and shape after pregnancy, breastfeeding or significant weight loss. See before and after photos of breast augmentation here.

Kybella has been a hot topic in 2016, with the procedure gaining steam not only at Janiga MDs, but across the nation, as well. This 45-minute in-office procedure permanently banishes double chins in as few as two treatments. The FDA-approved injectable helps break down the submental fat pad, reducing or eliminating the appearance of a double chin.

Given how popular each of these procedures has become, we don’t expect the trend to abate any in 2017.

Other cosmetic surgeries we expect to be on the rise in 2017:

  • Rhinoplasty: also known as a nose job, this procedure helps restore the ability to breathe properly by repairing a deviated septum.
  • Breast lift: to help reverse the effects of age, gravity, breast implant removal, breastfeeding or significant weight loss.
  • Facelift: to reverse the effects of age by removing excess skin in the face and neck while tightening deeper structures for a more youthful appearance.

As for the noninvasive and in-office procedures, we expect to see continued interest in the following:

  • In-office facelift: Sometimes called a mini or weekend facelift, this is designed to help diminish deep creases on the face and neck while creating a more defined neck and jawline.
  • miraDry: This is a noninvasive treatment for excessive underarm sweat that uses heat-based energy to eliminate odor glands with permanent results.
  • Botox: A popular injectable for cosmetic treatment of forehead wrinkles caused by specific muscle groups.
  • Juvederm: Using hyaluronic acid, this dermal filler helps correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.

To learn more about any of these procedures and to see if you’re a good candidate for them, contact us for a consultation at our Reno offices. We hope your 2016 ended with a bang and look forward to seeing you in 2017!
